Jennifer Lukas, ATLAS volunteer under the Bryan Acheampong Foundation’s (BAF) Housing and Infrastructural Development Programme has presented 30 dual desks worth GH₵ 5000 to Hyewohoden D/A basic school in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region. 

In her address, Ms. Lukas noted that, Hyewohoden D/A basic school was chosen because pupils in class 4 and 5 struggled to learn in the school without furniture and sat on the floor for their lessons.

The Manager, Livelihood Empowerment at the Bryan Acheampong Foundation (BAF), Mr. Anthony Mankona said BAF is rolling out appropriate educational activities targeting all and sundry. He further stated that, BAF is currently constructing a two-unit KG Block at Ankoma and Nteso

He however said the furniture were solely secured by Ms. Jennifer Lukas through funds raising in her home country the Switzerland.

The assistant headteacher of Hyewohoden basic school, Mr. Emmanual Agyemang expressed his profound gratitude to the foundation and Ms. Jennifer Lukas for the support. “now that there are desks, the children can write and write well. We can also insist that they take part in a lot of exercises.” He stated.

Tettey Francis, 11-year-old pupil in class 5 said “it was difficult to lie on the floor to write but with the furniture, we can sit and write and we’re very happy.
